Do You have Normal Structure?

This position is very important, since it keeps the head centered over the body. When the head and neck are in this position, the thoracic spine is in the proper position to support the neck above it. The problem arises when the head and neck translate or displace forward. When this happens, a person has a syndrome called ANTERIOR HEAD SYNDROME.

Think of it this way: if you held a 10lb weight against your chest with both hands you could probably hold it there for five or ten minutes. But, if you held the same 10lb weight out in front of you with your arms extended, it would be much more difficult. You would probably start to tire in your arms and shoulders. The weight didn’t change, but the distance of the weight away from the center of your body did.

As the Twig Bends So Grows the Tree

During a complimentary consultation I briefly discuss what normal and abnormal structure is and how it affects the function of our body. A prospective patient must be familiar with this to have a better understanding of their secondary condition(s) or symptoms. A question that may come up is, “how many people come into your office having a perfect looking spine?” Well, most of the population has some type of a segmental displacement. The ones who happen to walk through the front door of my office are the ones who are experiencing secondary conditions or symptoms as a result of their structural problems. These may include neck pain, back pain, headaches, and numbness and tingling into the extremities.  The reasons why most folks have segmental displacements is because of compensations to traumas or accidents that occurred earlier in life. As the old saying goes “as the twig bends so grows the tree.”

My Visit To Google Ann Arbor

I’m sure you’ve heard the statistic that people fear public speaking more than they do death. This is not the case for me; in fact, I’m kind of an odd ball in that I really enjoy public speaking. I jump at the opportunity to share valuable health related information with groups and organizations — information that I feel may benefit all of us. Topics that I’ve presented have ranged from “Eat Fat Lose Fat”, “Bullet Proofing Your Body”, “Sugar… America’s Addiction”, to “What Exercises are best for Beauty and Appearance.”
