Posture Correcting Stretches

Left untreated, poor posture can lead to serious complications involving your circulation and digestion, and immense pain in your back, neck, and shoulders. Fixing your posture can help ease this pain and save you from long-term health issues. Making a change right now can improve your quality of life for the future.

Taking a few minutes per day to do some easy stretches can develop your flexibility, strength, and balance. This will put less stress on your muscles and your spine.

One great exercise is the chest opener, which helps you stretch your chest. If you spend a lot of the day sitting, this can be very helpful. To perform this stretch:

  • Stand with your feet about hip-width apart.
  • Bring your arms behind you and interlace your fingers with your palms pressing together.
  • Keep your head, neck, and spine in one line as look straight ahead.
  • Inhale as you lift your chest toward the ceiling and bring your hands toward the floor.
  • Breathe deeply as you hold this pose for 5 breaths.
  • Release for a few breaths.
  • Repeat at least 10 times.

Strength Training Workouts to Prevent Back Pain

back pain ann arbor, lower back pain ann arbor, middle back pain ann arbor, upper back pain ann arbor, back pain relief ann arbor

Do you have lingering back pain that keeps you from doing activities you once enjoyed?

Most people think that strength training will only aggravate injuries, but did you know strength training exercises are a great way to stay fit generally, but also improve mobility, confidence and overall health, including back pain?

When done properly, strength exercises do exactly that – strengthen weak muscles in your legs, core, and back, which will give you more support over time and help reduce back pain.

Do you feel there is something preventing you from trying strength training? Remember, you don’t need a gym membership to lift weights.

Regular household items can work just fine. Water jugs, cans of food, bricks, boxes filled with books, and cheap resistance bands to name a few. Get creative and stick with the program to build strength.

Reduce Back Pain with Chiropractic Care

Do you lead an active lifestyle, but prefer running or cardio workouts over strength training?

Do you have lingering back pain that keeps you from doing activities you once enjoyed?

When done properly, strength exercises do exactly that – strengthen weak muscles in your legs, core, and back, which will give you more support over time and help reduce back pain.

Here are some other ways strength training can be beneficial:

  1. Stronger heart: Strength training can burn the fat that surrounds your organ easier and more efficiently than simple cardio workouts. Burning that fat (visceral fat) can decrease stress on the heart and improve its capability to pump blood.

  2. Better mental health: Exercise releases “feel good” hormones (dopamine) which act as a reward to your brain. Strength training in particular increases self-confidence, which is a great way to combat anxiety and depression.

What’s the Difference Between Structural Chiropractic Care and Conventional Chiropractic Care?

Most Chiropractors you’ll find on your typical Google search are conventional chiropractors. They focus on reducing pain, inflammation, muscle spasms and increasing range of motion in joints.

They manage these health concerns with the use of general manipulations of the neck and spine. This is what most chiropractors offer in the way of care, and we believe that most of them do a great job at it.

As a Specific Structural Corrective Chiropractor, Dr. Gessert is dedicated to diagnosing and correcting the underlying cause of your condition. If you have back pain, neck pain, or tingling or numbness in your hands and feet, it’s time to see a chiropractor. Been in a Recent Car Accident? See a Chiropractor!

Specific structural chiropractic care doesn’t just treat the symptoms of your pain, but the underlying injury or injuries causing your pain.

Over the counter medications and rest offer temporary relief, but not long-term relief, which could last years if you don’t treat your car accident-related injuries properly.

Even if you were wearing a seat belt or driving at a low speed during your accident, you could still sustain serious injuries.

Get Personal Injury Case Help from a Ann Arbor Chiropractor

No two accident injuries are the same, some respond well with only chiropractic care, while some are more complex and in addition to chiropractic need other healthcare specialists. Just like the old saying it takes a village to raise a child, in some cases it takes a circle of different healthcare specialists to treat a patient.

We understand that healthcare choices are critical decisions and that you have many different options in Ann Arbor and the surrounding communities. If you have back pain, neck pain, or tingling or numbness in your hands and feet, it’s time to see a chiropractor. How Can a Chiropractor Help with a Personal Injury Case?

Seeing a chiropractor immediately following an accident greatly improves your chances to recover full mobility in your joints as well as significantly lessens your chances of sustaining long-lasting soft tissue damage.

Did you know a chiropractor can also help in a potential personal injury lawsuit?

With additional training in how the spine, neck, and connective tissue and muscles all work together, chiropractors are often able to recognize and diagnose injuries that other doctors might miss.

Additionally, a record of quality chiropractic treatment can determine what type of monetary compensation you receive from your lawsuit, as well as provide record of injuries sustained due to a car crash.

The insurance company responsible for your financial compensation will evaluate the treatment you receive, which is why it is incredibly important for you to choose a chiropractor with an excellent reputation.

Even if you were wearing a seat belt or driving at a low speed during your accident, you could still sustain serious injuries.

How to Prevent Injuries from Fall Chores

Before you do anything outside, it’s important to warm up your body with stretching or going for a short walk. By getting the blood flowing, you prep your muscles that may be underused.

Get someone to help you complete the chores and relieve stress on your body!

Lastly, if you’re prone to a sore back, or if you injure yourself doing chores, schedule an appointment with your chiropractor. Regular appointments keep your body and spine working optimally and help alleviate any lingering aches and pains.

Whether it’s an outdoor activity like running, cycling, hiking, or starting a landscaping project and cleaning up the yard, these activities come with a risk of injury.

When an injury does occur, soft tissue like muscles, ligaments or tendons are damaged. Getting the care you need early in the injury when your muscles are inflamed is the most important part of the healing process and can sometimes leave you feeling better than you were before the injury!
